"Masterpiece Mystery!" Sunday with new host, Alan Cumming

Does the title of this post say it all? We told a friend the other day about new Masterpiece Mystery! host Alan Cumming joining the series, and her response? "The creepy guy?" Why yes, it is he... but we think he's in good company. As reported by Laurel Ann (yet another friend of KCTS 9!), Cumming takes his place in a line of creepy Masterpiece Mystery! (formerly known as simply Mystery!, of course) hosts--well, at least in line behind Vincent Price.

All that aside, we are excited about the return of Inspector Lewis this Sunday at 9:00 p.m. Episodes repeat the following Sunday at 4:00 p.m. and are available On Demand.

Home Sweet Home: Owning the American Dream

Home Sweet Home: Owning the American Dream is exactly what it sounds like--a show about the pursuit of home ownership. Because it's a KCTS 9 local production, though, it's specifically about living in the Pacific Northwest and what's going on with the housing market here and now--and how it's affecting individuals.

My story is that I work at a public television station, I'm getting married soon, and whereas six years ago, $250,000 sounded outrageous to me, $300,000 is sounding mighty reasonable to stay in the city and begin the next portion of life's journey. But should we pounce now and try to get an ever-scarcer home loan in a shifting market? Or should we play the wait-and-see game for a while longer?

What's your story? Have a home that's dropping in value just because the market's shifting? Holding onto a house bought long ago in spite of overwhelming property taxes? Looking for that first home--in Seattle or the surrounding areas, and want it to be built green, sustainable and high-density (without being hideous)? Home Sweet Home takes a look at all these positions. Watch the show and let us know what you think, and share your story with others online in the comments.

Home Sweet Home airs Monday, 6/30, at 10:00 p.m. and will be available On Demand via Comcast for a month after the broadcast.

P.S. As a point of clarification, I'm not the GM pictured at left, but one of the KCTS 9 staff. You might know me from our other blog. I'm Daphne, the one with the glasses.
